Interests

I am a History major and Philosophy minor looking to use her time with the MALAS 4+1 program to enter the world of archival and conservation work. My main academic interests involve gaining a certificate with UF’s Museum Studies program as well as a specialization in Latin American Politics and History. I am interested in courses focused on, but not limited to: 20th Century Caribbean, Mexican, or Nicaraguan politics (typically post-revolutionary politics), art including ceramic and pottery cultures, literature, and murals, and literature. I am the most excited to explore the interplay between institutions such as archives and libraries and how they interact as sites of historical and political contention.

Experience

My career interests began in Sophomore year of high school working for the Hispanic Federation of Orlando and has since grown after an oral history research trip and volunteering with the Samuel Proctor Oral History Program where I developed skills in conducting oral history sessions and transcription work. Since then, I have volunteered for the Civic Media Center in downtown Gainesville and the Special & Area Studies Collections as a student assistant while taking on various special projects around the department. One such project works closely with the Latin American and Caribbean Collections and the Pan American Authorities (PANA) to create a Spanish-language authority as well as an exhibit within the library.
