This book club will be in Spanish, featuring three guest writers who will Zoom with the attendees to have an informal chat about their works and ideas. This is a great opportunity to practice Spanish, engage with thought-provoking and entertaining modern Latin American literature, and talk to the authors behind the works!

30 Jan | Liliana Colanzi (Bolivia) - Ustedes brillan en lo obscuro is a collection of short stories that range from cyberpunk to horror, passing through Anthropocene/geological fiction and sci-fi in Bolivia. This book won the prestigious VII Ribera del Duero International Prize and has been translated into English and Italian. Liliana Colanzi teaches at Cornell University professor and is one of the most influential contemporary writers in Spanish. 

13 Feb | Gabriela Ponce (Ecuador) - Sanguínea, a novel rich in symbolism, follows a woman in her late thirties after her marriage breaks down. Its visceral prose moves through hallucinatory scenes, evolving into an autofictional account of the female body, complete with diary entries, while exploring desire, pain... and blood.

27 Feb | Hubert Matiúwàa (México-Me'phaa), Xtambáa, a poetry collection on land, environment, Mè'phàà cosmology, and violence.
