Cuba: conflicto político, cambio social, derechos y ciudadanía

Desde las protestas sociales de julio pasado Cuba ha vuelto a ser parte, con más audiencia, de las conversaciones políticas regionales y globales. Algunas de las preguntas más persistentes están relacionadas con qué es hoy la sociedad civil cubana; cómo y cuánto está cambiando Cuba; cuáles son las necesidades y las posibilidades de procesar el pluralismo y la diferencia en el país; cómo se resisten las distintas injusticias y cuánto se puja por la justicia integralmente entendida; en qué coordenadas se conforma el espacio público de y sobre Cuba; y cuánto y cómo toma parte la política estadounidense en la vida política, social y económica del país. El espacio propuesto contribuirá a continuar procesando no solo el presente cubano sino lo que él dice, y calla, sobre la política latinoamericana contemporánea.

• Ada Ferrer, New York University
  Julius Silver Professor of History and Latin American and Caribbean History NYU. Her latest book is Cuba: an American History, among other publications she is the author of Freedom's Mirror: Cuba and Haiti in the Age of Revolution, Insurgent Cuba: Race, Nation, and Revolution, 1868-98.
  
  
• Julio Cesar Guanche, Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (FLACSO), Ecuador
  Law degree from the University of Havana (1997). Master in Public Law from the University of Valencia (2005). Doctor in Social Sciences, with a mention in History from FLACSO-Ecuador (2017). He worked, first as an advisor and then as deputy director of the International Festival of New Latin American Cinema in Havana. He is author of the books: The Imagination Against the Norm; Eight Approaches on the Republic of 1902 (La Memoria Editorial, Cultural Center Pablo de la Torriente Brau, 2004); The Man on the Cornice (Casa editor April, 2006, with Hilario Rosete Silva); On the Edge of Everything; Today and tomorrow of the revolution in Cuba (Ocean Sur, 2007); The Continent of the Possible (collection of essays); An Examination on the Revolutionary Condition (Ruth Casa Editorial / ICIC Juan Marinello, 2008); Truth is not Rehearsed; Cuba: socialism and democracy (Caminos, 2012 and Alberto Hurtado University Editions, Chile, 2012); and Freedom as a Destiny. Values, Projects and Tradition in the Cuban XX century (UNEAC, 2013).

• Ailynn Torres. Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (FLACSO), Ecuador
  Ailynn Torres Santana is a postdoctoral researcher with the International Research Group on Authoritarianism and Counter-Strategies (IRGAC) of the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation, a visiting researcher at the Freie Universität Berlin, and an associate researcher at FLACSO Ecuador. She has been associate professor at Universidad de la Habana (2006-2012) and visiting professor at Freie Universität Berlin (2021), FLACSO Ecuador (2016-2018, 2020, 2021), Universidad de Barcelona (2015, 2018) and the University of Massachusetts Amherst (2018). In 2019 she was a visiting researcher at Harvard University. Her research interests include feminist movements, inequality, and citizenship in Latin America. She is editor of the book Derechos en riesgo en América Latina: 11 estudios sobre grupos neoconservadores (Quito/ Bogotá: Fundación Rosa Luxemburgo/Desde Abajo, 2020). She is a member of the editorial boards of Cuban Studies (Harvard University) and Sin Permiso (Barcelona).
