Dr. Bruna has a joint appointment in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation and the Tropical Conservation and Development Program. His research is on the consequences of deforestation and other human activities for tropical ecosystems. He received his BS in Ecology, Behavior, and Evolution and MS in Biology from the University of California-San Diego and a Ph.D. in Population Biology from the University of California-Davis.
Dr. Resende is a cultural anthropologist whose research focuses on the impacts of globalization and neoliberalism on Latin Americans. She has an M. A. and Ph.D. in Anthropology and certificate in Latin American Studies from the University of Florida, an M.S. in Ed. Research and Evaluation from the University of Miami, and B.A. degrees in Psychology and English from University of Miami. She is a Lecturer in the Center for Latin American Studies and the Department of Anthropology.
Dr. Risner’s research interests are in the role of culture in international business and the integration of emerging technologies to develop intercultural competence and foreign language skills for the workplace. She holds degrees in Marketing (B.B.A.), Latin American Studies (M.A), Spanish (M.A.), and Educational Technology (Ed.D.).

Ms. Magdianis coordinates the Center's conference, symposia, receptions, travel grants, and other events. She also assists with coordinating travel for Title VI and the Library Travel Grants, the affiliate faculty travel fund opportunity, the Center based Faculty Travel funds, and any grant or initial travel needs.

In addition to hosting scholars from Brazil and facilitating student exchanges between UF and Brazilian universities, the FBLI administers UF’s participation in Brazil’s Science Without Borders program.
