Nicolás Bohórquez studied Literature with a minor in Philosophy at the University of South Florida in Tampa, where he worked for two years as a writing tutor. His fiction explores themes such as the migrant experience, the construction of identity, the search for spirituality in a world shaped by materialism, and art as a form of resistance to the objectification of the individual. He recently graduated with an MFA in Spanish Creative Writing from the University of Iowa, where he was awarded the Iowa Arts Fellowship. His academic and creative interests include migration, bilingual identity, Latin American and Latinx literature, and the relationship between fiction, memory, and life narratives. In MALAS, he hopes to explore how stories of migration can open new ways of thinking about belonging, displacement, and cultural identity.
