UF has formal agreements to promote research, teaching, extension, and other forms of exchange with over 45 universities, governmental agencies, and NGOs in Brazil.
- Cooperative Agreements are designed to promote collaborative research, teaching, and extension between UF and foreign institutions ranging from NGO’s to Universities. The complete list of cooperative agreements can be found here.
- Reciprocal agreements provide for the equal exchange of students between the University of Florida and an internationally accredited institution. They allow students to pay tuition at their home institution and gain course credit for courses they take abroad. A complete list of the Institutions in Brazil with which UF has Reciprocal Exchange Agreements can be found here.
If you are interested in establishing an agreement, please see this page on the website of the UF International Center (UFIC). There you will find links to the following:
- A description of the different types of agreements
- A list of UFIC’s requirements to sign an agreement
- Step-by-step guides for UF Faculty to follow for Cooperative and Reciprocal (i.e., Student Exchange) Agreements
- Links to the Pre-approved Documents.
- Note that for Cooperative Agreements there are templates in English and Portuguese. We recommend seeing if your partner’s institution will accept this version rather than require translating their own university documents into English (to speed up the process).
- Don’t forget the following: Attachment A, the Letter of Approval, and the Affidavit of Translation. Links to these templates are at the bottom of the page.
- For Cooperative Agreements: Don’t forget to add 4-5 specific activities you will be working on as part of this agreement, e.g., Research on —–, Student and Faculty Exchanges, Submission of grant proposals to support collaborative research, co-teaching, workshops, field courses, etc.
Please contact us if you have any questions, as we are here to help guide you through the process of preparing and submitting these documents to UFIC.
