Background
Risner’s background is in Marketing and she has worked as a trainer in a consulting firm in Barcelona, Spain. She holds an M.A. in Spanish from Bowling Green State University and an M.A. in Latin American Studies, with a concentration in Portuguese, from the University of Florida. Her research interests are Language for Specific Purposes, the role of culture and language in international business, Second Language Acquisition and the study of Portuguese as a Less Commonly Taught Language. She has taught at the K-12, community college and university levels, as well as in corporate settings. Some of the courses she has taught are: Spanish, Portuguese, Introduction to Latin American Studies, and English as a Second Language. She has also held training sessions related to management/cross-cultural issues.
