After graduating from college, Matt spent a short stint in Phoenix at the city’s flagship newspaper before deciding to leave the country for Central America. He worked for nearly four years at a newspaper in Costa Rica. At the start of 2015, he took a job at the Houston Chronicle as a member of the online and social media team. But he always maintained his love of Latin America and found a way to combine both his interests in the region with his background in communication and journalism at the University of Florida — where he studies how new technology has changed the immigration experience.
