Background

Legg came to the University of Florida from the University of California, Berkeley. In 1974 she joined the staff of the Office of Instructional Resources and completed her Ph.D.at U.F. in 1978 in Educational Research, Measurement and Evaluation. In 1978, she was awarded her first contract from the Florida Department of Education to establish specifications for the State Student Assessment Test II, which became the high school graduation test. This contract began a twenty-year association with the Florida D.O.E. in which Legg directed contracts and grants for many statewide and national assessment and evaluation projects. In 1980, Legg became Associate Director of OIR and then in 1995, she was appointed Director. In 1997, she was also appointed Director of the Computer and Instructional Research Computing Activities (CIRCA). Her duties were expanded to include the role of Coordinator of Distance Education from 1999–2001. Legg was Director of the Partnership in Global Learning (PGL), an international university/K–12 consortium from 2002–2004. Her research interests include the incorporation of e-learning tools and techniques to enhance classroom learning.
