Characteristics of viruses of interest in public health in the tropics

Dr. Mattar is a clinical microbiologist with more than 20 years of experience in the field. He is a professor of clinal tropical microbiology with appointments in several Colombian universities and teaching hospitals. He is devoted to research on tropical emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases. Experience in antibiotic resistance, tuberculosis, and other tropical diseases. Main research interests: tropical infectious disease, molecular epidemiology, antibiotic resistance, and diarrhea and foodborne diseases. From 1999 to present, Dr. Mattar has been the Director of the Institute of Tropical Biological Research at the University of Cordoba, Colombia. He is also the director of the Institute's graduate programs in tropical microbiology.
