Latin American Studies Welcome Week

Interested in Latin American Studies (LAS)? Join us for a week of learning, sharing, and celebration!

Activities will include:

  • Talk on Latinx Languages and Identities by Professor Jonathan Rosa from Stanford University
  • Personalized tours of the Center for Latin American Studies and the Latin American and Caribbean Collections (LACC)
  • Invitation to sit in on a LAS course of your choice (pending on space availability), for example:
    • Development Theory and Practice in Latin America
    • UF's Legacy in the Amazon
    • Race & Nation in Latin America
    • Human Rights in Latin America
    • Women in Latin American Cinema
    • Latin American Business Environment
    • Community Forest Management
  • Get to know current MALAS students
  • Happy Hour at Felipe’s Taqueria
  • Spotlight Brazil festivities with a lecture by Juliana Barbassa of the New York Times

All UF undergraduates are welcome to join us and explore new frontiers in the field of Latin American Studies!

Opportunities include the Master’s in Latin American Studies (MALAS) program as well as the undergraduate minor and certificate. Students are welcome to join us for the full week or part of the week.
