Elisa Tolomelli is a renowned Brazilian film producer. With a degree in marketing and advertising, she has worked in the film industry for over 25 years – both in cinema and television, adapting screenplays, directing, producing and working on film distribution. As an executive producer, she has been responsible for acclaimed films such as Central do Brasil (Central Station, dir. Water Salles Jr.), Cidade de Deus (City of God, dir. Fernando Meireles), and A Floresta Que Se Move (dir. Vinícius Coimbra), among many others. Her most recent film is an adaptation of Luiz Alfredo Garcia-Roza´s 2005 novel titled Berenice Procura. This unique crime thriller tells the story of a female taxi driver who gets involved in a murder investigation at the touristic suburb of Copacabana in Rio de Janeiro. 


Berenice is a 35-year-old hardworking taxi driver. She spends 10 hours a day driving around Rio’s chaotic streets and has developed a passion for police dramas and crime scenes. Her ex-husband, Domingos, is a journalist who works at “Fair city”, a sensationalist news program with massive audience numbers. She keeps herself briefed on all of the latest crime news by religiously reading local newspapers and talking to Domingos. One day she gets herself involved in a murder case at Copacabana, and decides to investigate the case on her own, leading to an emotional journey full of suspense.
