Under Florida statute, section 1009.21 (10)(e), students from Latin America and the Caribbean who receive scholarships from the state or federal government can qualify as Florida residents for tuition purposes. Students who are enrolled in or applying to the Master of Arts in Latin American Studies (MALAS) and the Master of Sustainable Development Practice (MDP) programs can apply for book scholarships of $500 per semester, making them eligible for "in-state" tuition status.
