Background

A professional facilitator and trainer, Mr. Dain’s focus is on helping graduate students and natural resource management professionals develop the skills, concepts and attitudes required to work effectively with diverse stakeholders in diverse settings. Dain began his Latin American career as a Peace Corps volunteer in Paraguay and after completing graduate work in applied anthropology, served as Field Coordinator for the PESACRE project (Agroforestry Development Program for Small Producers in Acre) in the western Brazilian Amazon, Regional Coordinator for the international MERGE program (Managing Ecosystems and Resources with Gender Emphasis), and as an independent consultant in Brazil, Bolivia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru and the U.S. Since joining TCD in 2000, he has focused on the interplay between adult education, conflict and collaboration management, facilitation and social learning. Dain also teaches in the Florida Natural Resources Leadership Institute through an appointment in the School for Natural Resources and Environment, develops graduate student learning and support activities for the Center for Latin American Studies, and spends summers working with UF partner organizations in Acre, Brazil.
