Dr. Andrade is senior attorney in São Paulo, Brazil, law offices of 

Attila de Souza Leao Andrade Jr. The law firm is specialized in the practice of international law, business and corporate law taxation and international tax planning. He is a graduate of the Yale Law School ( LLM 72, JSD 77) and the author of 19 published books in Brazil and abroad, including his Guidelines on Brazil´s Foreign Investment Law. He is also a visiting professor at the University of Miami Law School , Coral Gables ( 1983, 2000, 2005, 2008) and at the University of Florida Levin College of Law in Gainesville ( Fall

The Global Impact of the Panama Canal Expansion

Speaker:  Richard Wainio

Former CEO of Tampa Port

Bio:

Richard A. Wainio was appointed Tampa Port Director and Chief Executive Officer in January, 2005. Mr. Wainio has in-depth knowledge about the maritime industry, international trade, and global transportation gained from over 30 years of high-level public and private sector experience that includes work in many countries around the world. Prior to coming to Tampa he served as Executive Director of the Port of Palm Beach, FL and worked 23 years in executive positions with the Panama Canal. His responsibilities with the Panama Canal included strategic and treaty planning, economic research and marketing, and serving as the primary advisor to the Canal’s bi-national Board of Directors. He subsequently held executive positions with Manzanillo International Terminal (Panama) and Eberhard Maritime Transport Company. Mr. Wainio also served as President and Executive Director for the American Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Panama.

Mr. Wainio earned a Master of Arts degree in international management from the American Graduate School of International Management (Thunderbird) and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in psychology from Davidson College. He speaks Spanish and is active in various international trade organizations and associations. He has also taught business courses in Panama and in the U.S.
