Specializations
MALAS students choose a specialization within their program of study that serves as the focus of their study of Latin America. The program offers both disciplinary and topical specializations. Disciplinary specializations emphasize training and research within a particular academic department, while topical specializations cluster coursework and research around specific issues or geographic areas critical to Latin America. Both types require 15 credit hours or 5 classes of graduate coursework. Each specialization has its own prerequisites, course requirements, coordinator, and affiliate faculty.
