Graduate Programs - MALAS, MALAS/JD
Application Information
Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements to apply to the MALAS program:
- Background and interest in Latin America; demonstrated through undergraduate coursework, study abroad, work experience, volunteer work, or other activity.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university.
- 3.0 GPA in all upper-division undergraduate coursework.
- Minimal proficiency in Spanish, Portuguese or Haitian Creole.
- Satisfactory scores on Graduate Record Examination (GRE).
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 80/213/550 (internet-based/computer/written) or greater (for international students only).
Application Process
Complete the following steps to apply to the MALAS program:
1. Complete the online UF Application for Graduate Admission.
2. Send an e-mail message to Wanda Carter (wcarter@latam.ufl.edu), Academic Programs Assistant, telling her you have applied online. Provide her with your UFID number and state what specialization you intend to pursue within the degree program.
3. Send the following documents to:

Application Deadline
The application deadline for Fall 2008 enrollment is Friday, February 1, 2008. Please note that only online applications are accepted. Applications received after the deadline will be reviewed for admission on a space available basis only. No financial aid is awarded to those who submit an application after February 1.
Students can apply at any time for admission to the MALAS program. However, the Admissions committee meets only once per year in February to approve financial aid applications. Financial aid is not available for spring enrollment. To find out the deadline for spring admission contact Wanda Carter at wcarter@latam.ufl.edu.
